Hillwood Meditation Centre and Retreats, Tasmania
Steph's Vision
"I'm trying to re-create the kind of paradise I grew up in - a place that is close to nature, where there is a community which meditates and discusses spiritual philosophy without persuasion, where there is someone you can talk to about your deepest thoughts and experiences, and where travellers are always welcome to rest and get inspiration."

Values
The Hillwood Road Meditation Skills Centre and the two retreats are run with a few goals in mind:
Inspiration and Inner Peace - Helping you to feel inspired and to experience inner stillness;
No preaching - Teachers and participants are asked to refrain from spouting their beliefs uninvited, or trying to win other people over to their own beliefs;
Empowerment - Encouraging you to participate at your own pace, develop your own skills and to find your own strength (for example through rest and space), rather than encouraging you to be dependent on hype or teachers or to fit into a group timetable;
Closeness to nature - Maintaining green spaces around the buildings and sharing information about local walks and beaches;
Simplicity - Keeping things simple and non-materialistic, avoiding unnecessary merchandising or self-promotion, keeping decor and technology simple;
Comfort - Making sure that the facilities are comfortable and homely with, for example, a suitable range of chairs and cushions for meditation, and with privacy, linen service and wifi in the accommodation;
Affordability - Keeping costs as low as possible.

Stephanie Legg England
In 2016 Steph achieved registration with the Meditation Association of Australia as a teacher of Personal Development Meditation and Therapeutic Meditation by going through a thorough assessment of her qualifications, meditation experience and teaching experience. She has degrees in Psychology (BSc(Hons) with University Medal) and Human Sciences (MSc) and a Certificate IV in Celebrancy. She has completed courses in crisis counselling and regression therapy, and studied emotional disorders, health psychology and national social survey research. As well as teaching meditation Steph sees clients for counselling or therapy, but aims for no more than about half a dozen consultations per month. During the last seven years she has seen almost a hundred clients for consultations and a handful of those clients have chosen Steph as their regular mental health support person.
With the help of the meditation community, the enthusiastic instructors at the Centre and the maintenance contractors, Steph looks forward to providing good service to those who visit the Centre in the future.
