Learn to meditate at Hillwood Meditation Centre, Tasmania
The Hillwood Road Meditation Skills Centre is not affiliated with a religion or any other institution. Steph believes that you should choose your own style of meditation depending on your own goals, beliefs, abilities and traits. She can give you ideas for how to go about doing this, taking into account the role of your body, brain, emotions and passions. As the Australian population is divided roughly 50-50 in whether people believe in God or other supernatural phenomena, the Centre caters equally for both believers and non-believers. Some time is spent discussing spiritual practices for those who are interested, but there is no pressure to adopt these ideas and just as much time is spent discussing meditation for relaxation, mental health and performance. In 2016 Steph achieved registration with the Meditation Association of Australia as a teacher of Personal Development Meditation and Therapeutic Meditation by going through a thorough assessment of her qualifications, meditation experience and teaching experience.
Meditation Meetings
Sundays, Tuesdays & Mega Thursdays 10:30-11:45am, $10 ($5 concession)
Beginners are always welcome at these meetings and there is enough time for you to get some tips from Steph before the meditation starts. If you tell Steph your reasons for meditating, she can suggest techniques that would help. On Sundays and Tuesdays we start with a chat and a short discussion, then Steph leads the group into a 20-25 minute silent meditation. On Thursdays we spend less time talking and the meditation will last for up to an hour. There is time to discuss the meditation briefly afterwards. You can come to meetings as often as you wish without needing to book ahead. Meetings usually run as normal on public holidays except meetings are not held on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
Personal Tuition
If you can't attend the Meditation Meetings or if you would like some more personal advice for your meditation, you can arrange a consultation with Steph for $80 an hour at her premises in Hillwood.
